Work is officially underway on Sazerac House, a cocktail museum and corporate headquarters for New Orleans-based liquor dynasty The Sazerac Co. The booze brand acquired two historic buildings at the corner of Canal and Magazine Street in the Central Business District in December near the original Sazerac Coffee House.

According to Where Y’at, the five-story, 48,000-square-foot development broke ground on Tuesday. The facility will feature a three-story Sazerac House museum featuring information on the history of cocktails as well as the influence of the Sazerac on New Orleans and cocktail culture in general.

The attraction will have free admission and is projected to attract around 100,000 visitors in its first year of operation. While there will be plenty of Sazerac-branded merchandise, Canal Street Beat reports that the facility sadly will not include a bar (seems like a missed opportunity).

The fourth and fifth floors of will be devoted to meeting space and corporate office space. Sazerac House is slated to debut in 2018.
