MAYOR LANDRIEU, CITY OFFICIALS OPEN ROSA F. KELLER LIBRARY & CENTER IN BROADMOOR
March 16, 2012
Mayor Mitch Landrieu and City officials opened the new Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center located at 4300 South Broad Street in the Broadmoor community. The former building was severely damaged in Hurricane Katrina. The new state-of-the-art facility is comprised of two buildings joined together with the intention that they function as a whole.
“The new Rosa Keller Library and Community Center is a prime example of our city’s renewal since Hurricane Katrina,” Mayor Landrieu said. “The return of this anchor of the community establishes the Broadmoor community as the ultimate example of place-based development.”
The total construction cost is $6.8 million, with funding coming from FEMA reimbursements, insurance and bond funds, as well as a Carnegie Foundation grant through the Broadmoor Improvement Association. Design services were performed by Eskew+Dumez+Ripple of New Orleans. Construction services were performed by Ryan Gootee General Contractors of Metairie.
