Dillard Nears Finish of $23M Dorm Overhaul
More than 300 students living on the campus of Dillard University will have new accommodations — or at least old ones that are new again after a $23 million renovation project at three of its dormitories.
Students will arrive for the fall semester next week as the finishing touches are being put on one of the buildings. Camphor, Hartzell and Straight halls have been closed since Hurricane Katrina, when the failure of the London Avenue Canal levee put the entire campus under water.
Trapolin Peer Architects was the designer for Straight Hall, with construction handled by Ryan Gootee General Contractors. Straight Hall will house 75 male students and is ready for occupancy.
