The existing Robert Fresh Market, on the corner of St. Claude and Elysian Fields Avenue, is included on the national and state registers of historic places. The design and construction of the renovation will meet historical requirements due to the historical nature of the building that is on site. Due to the complexity and importance of these requirements, RGGC partnered with Trapolin-Peer Architects for Design Assist services. The project consists of demolishing the back portion of the existing building and selective demo throughout the existing building. The existing building is 19,198 square feet with an additional 6,856 square feet of new construction, totaling 26,053 square feet of grocery. The buildout will include new wall framing, façade and roof replacement, flooring, mechanical, refrigeration, plumbing and electrical work. Behind the grocery building will be a 5,096 square foot steel and stucco and cement board facade, retail building. The sitework scope will include new hardscape and landscape to accommodate the new layout of the grocery and the retail building. Construction will take 9 months to complete.
